Center Jeff Coolidge is "making very fine progress, thank goodness" Coach Lloyd Jordan said yesterday after a long varsity football team practice--again behind closed doors.
Coolidge suffered a leg injury against Princeton and missed the Brown game, but indications are that he will be in shape to start against the Blue Saturday. He scrimmaged yesterday.
Although most of yesterday's practice was concentrated on defense, Jordan did stage a passing drill. When asked if Captain Dick Clasby participated, Jordan replied curtly, "We passed. Clasby suffered a shoulder injury in the Davidson game, and did no passing when he returned to the lineup against Brown.
Popell, Cochran Work Out
Two injured ends worked out in the scrimmage, although it was previously announced that they would be out for the season. Harvey Popell, sidelined with overfatigue, and Bob Cochran, out all season with a fracture and refracture of a leg bone, both saw action.
Jordan would make no comment about Cochran, and said only, "Harvey's making progress" about Popell.
All three varsity teams scrimmaged defensively against the JVs. running and passing out of a Yale-type T-formation for about 40 minutes, before switching to offensive play.
The team will leave Friday morning for New Haven, and Jordan said, "We may work out down there."
