Some 50 belles from local colleges will be on hand Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of next week to provide needed assistance in soliciting blood donors. These same girls will tilt glasses with members of the most bled section in a cocktail party. Feature of the party will be a contest to select "The Girl We Bled For."

Two steps designed to minimize less of valuable time to blood donors this year are careful scheduling of appointments and increased size of the needles. From the Harbus News,   November 6, 1953
