One lonely man sat watching a deserted stage in the Old Howard Theatre last night as Boston's ban on obscene "girlie" shows went into effect.
In an exclusive interview with the CRIMSON, the janitor of the Old Howard made his position clear. "The only one here is me," he said, "and I'm just the janitor." The janitor of the Casino Burlesque was unavailable for comment.
The two burlesques houses were closed as a result of an action by the city's board of censorship on Thursday. At that time, the shows were deemed "obscene" and "vulgar" by Garret H. Byrne, Boston District Attorney.
