The field of choices for a new Divinity School Dean narrowed last night as it was learned that possibilities have been cut to only three men.
The committee has now made its recommendations. Although the names are as yet unreleased, certain prospects have definitely been eliminated, including Harry C. Meserve, S.T.B. '38, and acting Divinity School dean George H. Williams.
"We discussed scores of possibilities," the committee representative said. "President Pusey and the Corporation can choose from among the three names submitted, but they are not bound by our recommendations."
The men recommended may include H. Richard Niebuhr, professor at the Yale Divinity School, and Theodore P. Ferris '29, rector of Trinity Church in Boston.
