Sir Herbert Read will deliver his second Charles Eliot Norton lecture at 8 o'clock tonight in New Lecture Hall.

Following the general theme of "Art and the Development of Human Consciousness," this evening's talk is entitled "The Discovery of Beauty." His first lecture, "The Vital Image," was given a week ago.

One more talk, "The Symbols of the Unknown," will follow during this semester. Sir Herbert will deliver four more lectures in the spring.

Now a prose writer and critic, he was primarily noted for his poetry before World War II. He is president of the Society of Education in Art and a member of the Institute of Contemporary Arts.
