Team Undergoes Light Drill; Clasby Is 'Making Progress'

Meyer to Play Varsity Center Until Coolidge Returns to Line

Coach Lloyd Jordan sent Saturday's starters into the Field House early yesterday and then watched his second varsity eleven run through an offensive scrimmage against the freshmen. The regulars spent the rest of the afternoon studying movies of the Princeton game.

Captain Dick Clasby limbered up in a sweat-suit once again, and Jordan stated, "I don't know about Clasby yet. I have hopes for Saturday; he's making progress."

Missing completely from the workout was Jeff Coolidge, who left last Saturday's game with a pulled knee muscle. Coolidge had been an outstanding 60-minute offensive center and line backer prior to the Princeton contest.

Still on crutches, Coolidge is "doubtful" for Saturday according to Jordan; the coach announced that Jan Meyer will take over the center duties until the senior returns. Meyer, a 6 ft, 187-pound sophomore, played the remainder of the Princeton game after Coolidge's injury.

Standouts for the varsity in the freshman scrimmage yesterday were junior backs Bob Cowles, George MacDonald, Dick Hoffman, and Sam Fyock as Jordan's team concentrated on its ground offense.

Commenting on his decimated squad, Jordan said, "Every team without spring practice has had more injuries than in the past. I think the boys probably would have been better physically adjusted to this type of football with spring workouts."

The Crimson's final two games of the season will be against Brown and Yale, both of whom defeated Harvard last year. This year's games figure to be much more evenly matched.
