Glee Club Names New Assistant Conductor

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Glee Club this week announced the appointment of Robert Gartside '50 as assistant conductor for this year.

Gartside, who replaces Edmund P. Allison in the post, sang with the club for four years as an undergraduate, much of the time as a tenor soloist. He is now enrolled in the Graduate School of Education.

In recent voice trials, 217 students tried out, of which 123 were accepted. This was the largest number of candidates in the group's history.

The first concert of the season will be a joint one with the Princeton Glee Club in Sanders Theatre, on Nov. 6, the night before the Princeton game. The second will be a joint concert with the Yale club in New Haven on the Yale weekend.
