Kirkland House will definitely not join Winthrop in giving the Princeton weekend dances, Bruce D. Phillips '54, Kirkland Dance Committee Chairman, said last night.
Phillips added that Kirkland would charge its set price for past House dances, $2.80. "If Winthrop should charge more, it will not be a big enough difference to influence students in their choice of dances," Phillips said.
Chairman of the Winthrop Dance Committee, Richard C. Hirschhorn '54, said that he wants to combine with Kirkland for the weekend.
"Interchangeable tickets at one price are a convenience to the student," he said. "But if Kirkland wants to do it alone, we will also."
Phillips emphasized that although gross ticket sales will not be pooled, Kirkland and Winthrop will co-operate on advertising at Princeton. He said that for this dance fire laws would be strictly observed which would probably limit the dance to about 200 couples.
Trouble over merging dances began last year when Adams, Dunster, and Kirkland charged Leverett House with violating an agreement by refusing to combine its Yale dance with the other three.
