Coach Lloyd Jordan sent the Crimson varsity through a long defensive practice against the junior varsity yesterday, preparing for the eleven's second game against Colgate this Saturday in the stadium.
The jayvees played from a T-formation, similar to Colgate's, but their passing plays were limited because of strong winds blowing off the river.
Nevertheless, the varsity, with halfback Bob Cowles making several fine stops, held the jayvee ground attack to virtually no gain.
Lowenstein Passes
A bright note at the cold practice was Carroll Lowenstein's passing. The former team captain, still working without pads because of a shoulder injury suffered Sept. 19, threw long passes for the first time since then, and got away several smooth tosses that topped 40 yards, in an informal drill.
Back with the team yesterday was fullback Bill Volmer, who was injured slightly in Tuesday's damp workout.
