Undefeated Leverett moved closer to clinching the House football title yesterday afternoon by downing Dunster 7 to 0 on a 40 yard pass from Dave Segal to Joe Hindeman in the last eight seconds of the game.
In yesterday's other House contest, Kirkland rolled over a weak Dudley eleven 18 to 0, and moved into a third place to with Adams.
Except for the last minute Leverett pass, the tight defense of both teams stalled any serious threats at the other's goal. This was the second game in a row won by Leverett on a Segal to Hindeman pass. Last week Adams fell 7 to 0 on a 70-yard third quarter heave by Segal. John Stokes converted for the extra point.
Interceptions Pay Off
Kirkland's victory over the winless Commuters came after three intercepted passes were run back for touchdowns--all in the last three minutes. Jorry Kindred ran back an intercepted Commuter pass for the first tally. Within the last two minutes Red Breunan and Marshall Tuton each snared aerials on the Dudley 25 and raced for the final scores.
Soccer Dondlock
Lowell and Kirkland soccer teams tied 1 to 1 in a playoff of a postponed game. The Deacons lost the services of Joe Elizade, who tore ligaments in the right knee. Dick Armstrong tallied the lone Kirkland goal on a penalty kick and Steole Commoner came back to tie the game with a second half Dudley goal.
In House touch football Dunster ground out a 54 to 6 victory over Leverett, and Dudley dropped Kirkland 18 to 6.
In tackle football this afternoon, Winthrop will meet Eliot, and Lowell will play Adams, both games starting at 3 p.m. The soccer card today includes Dunster vs. Dudley at 2:15 p.m., followed by a Leverett Kirkland match one hour later. Touch football today pairs the same foes.
