Lamont Listings Ready This Week

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

After more than a year of preparation, Lamont Library will this week release the first printed catalogue of its collection, containing over 39,000 titles.

Partially financed by a $9,000 grant from the Carneige Foundation, the catalogue was started last fall in response to requests by a number of colleges and universities for information on what books are provided for undergraduates at Harvard.

In the process of compilation, the Lamont staff consulted over 100 faculty members for their views on which books should be criminated and which added to the collection. The process of revision was carried on simultaneously.

The 569-page volume is published by the Harvard University Press and will be available to University students and faculty members for four dollars. It will be kept current by periodic supplements.
