Britain to Offer Marshall Awards For U.S. Students

British appreciation for U.S. Marshall Plan aid is expressed by 12 scholarships recently offered to American students by that country's government.

Called the Marshall Scholarships, they provide funds for study at any university in the United Kingdom. Stipends of $1,400 will be given to unmarried students and $1,650 to married ones.

The 12 awards are apportioned equally between the four national regions. Harvard students may apply only for the three given to students from Eastern universities.

Candidates for the scholarships must have A.B. degrees and be under the age of 28.

Application blanks can be obtained through the British Consulate in New York and must be returned by October 30. In addition to the written application, all candidates must appear for an interview at the consulate early in December. Announcement of the awards will be made in February.
