Captain Bill Cleary led his freshman hockey team to a 7 to 3 "upset" victory over Boston University in the Arena yesterday.
Cleary personally provided enough goals to give the Yardlings their fourth win in four starts. He scored four times and assisted twice against a B.U. team that had been rated the "best in the area."
Completely outplayed for two-thirds of the game, B.U. partially caught fire in the third period to score all its goals. But by then the freshmen had built up a five goal lead. The Yardlings themselves pumped four scores past ace goalie Dick Ricazio in the third period.
In three pervious games Cleary had built up a total of 16 points. He now averages better than five points a game.
