Everything went as expected in New York last night as the Columbia basketball team trounced the Crimson, 82 to 57, for the visitor's sixth straight loss. It was the second Ivy League defeat for the varsity and its seventh loss in its first nine games.

The Lions opened fast and led the Crimson, 19 to 10, after the first ten minutes. In the second quarter, the home team scored 14 straight points in one spurt and ran ahead, 45 to 20, at the half. After that Columbia Coach Lou Rossini substituted freely, using 18 men in a three-and-a-half platoon setup. The Crimson finally outscored Columbia, 18 to 17, in the fourth period.

The summary: HARVARD (57) Dennis, f  5  3  13 Hansen  1  2  4 Sachs  3  7  13 Lionette, c  4  4  12 Manning  0  0  0 Shaw, g  3  1  7 Perry  1  1  3 Condon  0  0  0 Krinsky  2  1  5 Bulger  0  0  0 Totals  19  19  57
