Sailors Begin Season In Quadrangle Meet

The national champion Crimson sailing team opens its fall season this weekend when it defends its title in the Coast Guard Academy's Invitation Quadrangular meet. The other two teams will be Tufts and M.I.T.

Charlie Hoppin and Jim Nathanson are the Crimson's two skippers, the best two-captain team in New England, and the crews will be Tim Brown and George Robertson, taking the place of the graduated Tom Carroll and Johnny Bishop.

Hoppin and Nathanson won three out of four of the Pine Trophy races last Saturday, and brought home the national championship over the summer. Sunday's regatta will employ three types of small racing craft, testing the depth and versatility of the teams.

The host team, Coast Guard, looms as the most likely squad to upset the Crimson in this weekend's races.

The strong Coast Guard outfit is composed of Bob Iben, George Wagner, and Ray Stevens. M.I.T. is unveiling its last years freshman ace, Ted Garcia.
