Coach Norm Shepard gave his 70-man junior varsity football squad a light workout yesterday, and then sent an offensive team against the varsity eleven to run off some Springfield plays.

Practice sessions opened Monday, but Shepard has time until October 10, the date of the jayvees first contest, to pare down the squad and shape it into a coordinated unit.
