Philbrick to be Chief Witness in Struik Trail

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Herbert A. Philbrick, for nine years a F. B. I. undercover man, will be the chief witness for the prosecution against Dirk Jan Struik, suspended Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor of Mathematics, District Attorney George E. Thompson announced yesterday.

Struik was indicted by a grand jury on charges of conspiring to overthrow the government by force and violence. The indictment brought protests by faculty members here, saying that it was a violation of academic freedom.

The date for the trial has not been set yet, but a conference of attorneys is scheduled to be held shortly and time for trial will then be set.
