Brown University's football fortunes, already jolted by the ineligibility of 14 key players, took another blow over the past week when Ernest T. Savignano, assistant director of athletics and head coach of freshman football, resigned to take a position in private industry.
Although Savignano's departure was not ostensibly linked to the banning of th players, his loss necessitated a drastic reshuffilling of head coach Alval Kelley's staff.
Kelley, now in his second year at Providence, named Matt Bolger, Bruin end coach last season, to coach the Brown freshman team. (The Bruin Cubs entertain the Yardling eleven on November 1.)
Jack Heffernan, freshman coach until last fall, when he took over the student recreation program, will assist Bolger with the Cubs. Larry Bouley, one-time fullback star at the University of Georgia, will replace Bolger as end coach. Bouley came to Brown this spring from Bloomfield, New Jersey, high school.
