Eliot, Dudley Stumble To Sloppy 12-12 Draw

Eliot and Dudley battled furiously yesterday in House baseball to see who could make the lowest errors; neither team could show a definite edge in this department and the game ended in a 12 to 12 tie after eight sloppy innings had been played.

A ninth inning rally by Winthrop gave the Puritans a 5 to 4 win over Lowell in the other House baseball game. The regulation seven innings, highlighted by Ted Briggs' three-run homer for Lowell, ended in a 4 to 4 tie. The winning run came as Pete Strauss singled, advanced to third on two errors, and scored on Rick Simon's long fly.

In softball, Eliot, with Ed Suss pitching, beat Dudley, 16 to 9.

The fourth round of the preliminary crew races was held yesterday afternoon, with the Winthrop crew taking top honors. The Paritans, last year's champions, edged out a strong Eliot boat by six feet to take first place in a race in which Adams finished third. Winthrop's winning time was 4:51.
