Abbott Gets Converse Banking, Finance Post From Business School

Charles C. Abbott '28, professor of Business Economics, has been appointed Edmund Cogawell Converse Professor of Banking and Finance at the Graduate School of Business Administration, Dean Donald K. David announced yesterday. The appointment is effective July 1, 1952.

Abbott, who has been a full professor since 1946, received his A.B., A.M., and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard. An instructor in Economics at the College from 1931 to 1937 he became an assistant professor at the Business School in 1937 and an associate professor in 1940.

Among the books Abbott has written are "Rise of the Business Corporation," "The New York Bond Market, 1920-1930," and "Financing Business During the Transition."

The post was established in 1912 as a result of a gift donated by industrialist and financier Edmund C. Converse. He was president of the Liberty National Bank, the Banker's Trust Company, and the Aster Trust Company.
