Sailing Team Finishes Second in McMillan Cup Race; Bishop Stars

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Skipper John Bishop turned in come brilliant upwind sailing over the weekend, but even his superlative performance was not enough to prevent Williams from edging the varsity sailors, 30 to 19 1/4 in the McMillan Cup regatta at Annapolis.

A clever bit of maneuvering enabled Bishop to take the Saturday race, in which Williams finished second; his finest performance, however, came Sunday.

Caught in the middle of the ten-boat floot. Bishop successfully managed to tack his way out of the jam, eventually ending a solid fourth. Williams, though, placed second again. Because the Cup is awarded on the basis of a two-day performance, the Purple was thus able to capture the trophy.

Navy finished third, two and a quartet points behind the Crimson. Cornell trailed with 15 1/4, followed by Princeton with 15, and Trinity with 13.
