F. Skiddy Von Stade, Jr. '38, Director of Scholarships, yesterday announced the presentation of the Edwards Whitaker Award to John F. Merrifield '55 of Straus Hall and Wilmette, Illinois.

The award is presented at midyear to "the freshman who shows outstanding scholastic and intellectual promise as indicated by distinction in studies and general achievement." It is presented without consideration of financial need, but the stipend varies at the discretion of the Deans Office.
