8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
An American soldier, now serving in Korea, will finally receive an under-graduate prize he won last year.
The History and Literature Department is sending money for the purchase of books to Robert B. Wheaton '53, who won the sophomore History and Literature prize for the best tutorial paper written by a sophomore honors candidate last year.
Since the prize is not funded, the stipend must be collected from friends of the department. Hence the award is usually not made until the September of the year it was won.
Last year's award is especially delayed because the department, undergoing re-organization, temporarily lost track of Wheaton's whereabouts.
Sophomore prize winner for this year will be announced on Monday April 17, while the department will decide on the junior prize winner early in May. Earl C. Ravenal '52, last spring's winner of the $50 junior prize, also received a Henry Fellowship to England for next year.
