Copland, Goldovsky to Miss Law Forum 'Music' Program

Illness and death have deprived the Law School Forum of two of their four scheduled speakers for tonight's program entitled "Trends in Modern Music" which begins at 8 p.m. in Sanders Theatre.

Aaron J. Copland, Eliot Norton Professor of Poetry, and Boris Goldovsky, master of ceremonies on the Metropolitan Opera of the Air, will not appear due to a death in the family and sickness, respectively.

Walter Piston, professor of Music, will speak on Copland's topic. "The Challenge of Contemporary Music for the Listeners," Piston has won both the New York Critics Circle Award and the Pulitzer Prize in Music for his symphonies.

Arthur Fiedler, conductor of the Boston Symphony "Pops" Orchestra, and Karl Geiringer, Professor of Music at Boston University, will complete the program.
