Winthrop Fish-Spearers Gird For Big Meet With Kirkland

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The battling mesomorphs of Winthrop are becoming esoteric in their fight for House athletic honors. A sheet asking House members to participate in a fish-spearing meet with Kirkland appeared on the dining hall bulletin board yesterday. Thirty men have already signed up.

The announcement, typed on H.A.A. stationery, displayed the Eastern Intercollegiate Spear Fishing Association rules for the new sport. Referees will release 100 fish in the Blockhouse pool, while "forwards" from each 12-man team will jump in to spear the fish. "Backs" will remain on the sidelines to spear the forwards. Fish who fight back will be disqualified, and backs who wound forwards above the neck will be barred after the third infraction.
