Kirkland increased its Straus Trophy lead by five more points yesterday by winning House fencing.
Lowell's Phil Erard took first place in the epee finals in the last event fought in the tournament. Kirkland's John Hamel clinched the meet for the Deacons by placing second. Ed Schroeder of Dunster was third, and Eliot's Howie Ecker placed fourth. Dunster finished in second place, with Winthrop and Lowell tied for third.
The House volley ball results were: Lowell 2, Winthrop 0; Eliot 2, Leverett 1; Kirkland 2, Dudley 0; and Dunster 2, Adams 0. Leverett, Kirkland, Eliot, and Dunster tied for first, with a resulting play-off tournament today at 2 p.m.
In freshman volleyball, Hollis beat Stoughton for the championship. Weld North clinched the freshman swimming title, with Stoughton placing second and Lionel and Holworthy tying for third.
