William L. Marbury, a Fellow of Harvard College, will speak at Tufts on April 21 in one of a series of lectures commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Medford college.
Marbury's lecture. "Freedom in Time of Danger," will be part of a program of University Lectures spaced at monthly intervals this spring as part of the celebration.
A Baltimore lawyer who was awarded the Medal of Merit for outstanding work as a legal adviser to the War Department during the war. Marbury was appointed in 1948 to the Board of Fellows, who along with the President, govern the College.
Tufts President Leonard Carmichael also said that President Conant will speak at Tufts at the conclusion of Centennial Year exercises next October 12.
In conjunction with the Centennial celebration, Carmichael announced yesterday that the school had received a gift of one million dollars from an anonymous industrialist. Tufts now has $2,700,000 of a present drive for $4,200,000. The money will be added to the endowment fund.
