What is a dress without accessories? Just a dress. Where can one go without accessories. Anywhere in general, but no where in particular.
And so we see the significance of accessories--the little comb in a girl's hair, the flash of color that is a scarf, the gleaming white that is a piece of adhesive tape.
The importance of the accessory is a tribute to the woman's mind, the triumph of the little thing. Were it not for the sprinkle of papered flowers stuffed majestically in a deccoletage, the pin which adorns a form fitting sweater, who would notice that which is woman? Who would say, "Wow!"
It is indeed the subtle touch that comes of the accessory. Take the stole, casually draped over a bare shoulder. In the winter, it keeps a girl warm. In the summer it keeps her covered. In six foot lengths, the stole has gained in importance until it is now one of the most popular of all spring and summertime "extras."
The small waisted, interestingly curved feminine form is displayed to excellent advantage with the wide belt. These belts come in a variety of materials, but the standard leather type is most widely used. The buckle, an accessory for an accessory, is the final touch that can make a belt "something different." They range from simple, functional devices to horses' heads and initials.
"If there isn't a wastepaper basket available, use your handbag." This is a saying which is so common that an Annex student can occasionally be seen carrying two or three handbags at the same time.
