Winning its 15th game in 17 starts, the Yardling hockey squad outscored, out-passed, and outplayed a below par Yale team, 9 to 3, Saturday night, at the Arena.
Left wing Ned Bliss pulled the hat trick, getting one goal in the second period and two in the third. Assists on all of Bliss' tallies were earned by center Doug Manchester, who was the best man on the ice for either team, scoring two goals and assistanting on six. His fine playmaking and slickhandling contributed greatly to the margin of victory. Good defensive work by Ed mrKonich, George Bueller, and Ed Almy broke up many Eli plays. mrKonich scored the Crimson's third goal, taking a deep pass from Almy and slapping it past the Yale goalie, Rudy Driscoll.
At the end of the first period, the freshmen led 3 to 2, and stayed ahead for the rest of the game. They scored three goals in each of the remaining periods as Crimson goalie Carl Hathaway turned away the best of Yale's attempts.
