Crimson Fencers Defeat Yale, 16-11; Peroy Retires as Coach

Crimson fencers whipped Yale, 16 to 11, at New Haven Saturday, as both teams played their last match of the season. Reno Peroy, Harvard coach for the past 23 seasons, and Robert Grasson, who coached for 31 years at Yale, officially retired at the conclusion of the matches.

Captain Eric Sollee was outstanding for the Crimson, winning all three of his foils bouts. Steve Chandler took three foils matches, and in the sabre event. Bob McConaughy also collected three wins. Jan Jertson had a perfect record in the two foils bouts he entered.

Yale's freshman team edged the Yardlings, 15 to 12, in their meet. The freshman foils team of Paul Forand. Walt Rawls, and Carter Pfaelzer took six of nine bouts.
