Columbia enters the Blockhouse as a definite favorite at 2 p.m. today, opposing a Crimson varsity wrestling team that is trying to recover from two consecutive losss.
The Lions, on of the most powerful teams in the East, have defeated both Army and Brown--the two teams that have decisively beaten Coach Bob Pickett's squad. According to Pickett, Columbia has a well-balanced team, with a great deal of strength in the 123, 147, and 157 pound classes.
Eddie Bursky will fill the 123-pound slot. Pickett has not thrown Captain Johnny Lee against tough competition so far, and is probably waiting until he reaches top shape. Last week, however, Lee scored the quickest fall of the meet, pinning his Cadet opponent in 54 seconds. Today he will wrestle at 130 pounds.
Icko Iben, the 147-pounder, was the only other victor for the Crimson last week, winning a gruelling 15-13 contest. At 157, Chick Chandler has wrestled well, but has been coming up against some very difficult opposition. Today's match should be no exception.
The rest of Pickett's squad has Frank Dewar at 137, Tony Caimi at 167, Dick Farrington at 177, and George Bates at unlimited.
