8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
Two teams, undefeated in league play, collide at 2 p.m. this afternoon, when the varsity squash team takes on Princeton at Hemenway Gymnasium.
This will be the first match of the term for the Crimson, champions last year, but Coach Jack Barnaby is optimistic about the team's recovery from the exam-time layoff.
"The boys made a great effort to practice during the exam period," he said. "We'll be ready."
This is a big match for the Crimson. If Barnaby's men can stop Princeton, they will be well on their way toward another title, because Army recently upset Yale, 5 to 4.
Despite a case of mumps which has sidelined him for the last few matches, Number One man Charley Ufford recovered enough to fight his way into the final round of the DeForrest-Tyler invitation squash tournament only to lose to Charley Brinton of the Merion Cricket Club 11-15, 15-12, 15-3, 15-10, at the Plainfield Country Club, Sunday.
Barnaby will have a strong lineup ready for the Tigers, particularly since Ufford is well over his attack of the mumps.
Behind Ufford will come Captain Jim Bacon at Two, and Dave Watts, at Three-Watts has recently recovered from an aliment, also.
In other matches, the "B" team will play the Union Boat Club "Reds" and the Harvard Club "Reds" will tackle the "C" team, both at Hemenway.
