Cambridge police have towed away more than 30 automobiles, most of them located in the vicinity of Harvard Square and bearing out-of-state license plates since Monday's snowstorm. The vehicles, which were towed to the Ellery Street Garage, can be retrieved for $5 or $6.
In addition, several snowed-in automobiles that could not be removed have been ticketed for over-parking. The Public Works Department combined with the police to ticket or tow away those autos that were interfering with the removal of snow from city streets.
According to the Cambridge Police, this number is "not unusual for such a severe storm." One surprising feature, however, is the large number of out-of-state automobiles that have been removed.
