Over-Large Rink Cuts Early Passing Play

Ragged early play notwithstanding, the varsity hockey team managed to stay on the victory trail at West Point Saturday, trouncing Army handily, 9 to 1.

Apparently fused by the vastness of the Cadets' oversized Smith Rink, Coach Cooney Welland's men were unable to present an organized attack for the first period.

But a brilliant stickhandling job by Amory Hubbard--with the Crimson one man short--gave the visitors the lead at 5:52 of the second frame. They added steadily to it thereafter, with Captain Dusty Burke and sophomore Job Bray scoring two goals each. Center Walt Greeley scored a goal and had two assists to add to his scoring total.

The Summary: First period: No scoring. Second period: Hubbard (H) (Greeley), 5:52; Harris (H) (Timpson, (Hatch), 10:54; Bray (H) (Wood), 14:40; Burke (H) (Greeley), 15:40. Third period: Greeley (H) (Hubbard), 2:22; Bray (H) (Wood), 6:10; Wood (H) (unassisted), 7:22; Wilson (A) (unassisted), 8:55; Timpson (H) (Hatch), 12:05; Burke (H) (Timpson), 18:20.
