The varsity fencing team lost its first match of the season to Columbia, 19 to 8, at the I.A.B. Saturday. The Yardling fencers were also defeated, 18 to 9, by the Clark University varsity.

The varsity skiers took third place in a six-team meet at Norwich Saturday, while the freshmen won a quadrangular meet at Dublin, N.H.

The varsity rifle team lost to Boston College, 1,378 to 1,351, Saturday at the M.I.T. firing range.
