The professor said carlier this week that fellow faculty members were slurred by remarks by Harold B. Velde (R-lll), Chairman of the House Un American Activities Committes.
"Representative Velde has a right to investigate educational lnstitutaions," Dorgan said, "and has plonty of reason to do so. professor Mather has been protected by Harvard authorities for a long time.
Accordnig to the Congressional Record," Dorgan continued. "Professor Mather not alone belongs to one or two Communist front organizations but to more than 20. Would you call the professor duped...or just plaisabsent minded?"
