The varsity wrestlers open a tough ten-meet schedule at 4:30 p.m. today when they encounter Boston University at the Indoor Athletic Building.
Coach Bob Pickett's squad, considerably depleted by losses to the Army, Hasty Pudding, and studies, includes three juniors, four sophomores, and a single senior in its starting lineup.
The wrestlers lost Captain Johnny Lee to the Air Force, Eddie Bursk temporarily to the Pudding show, and Icko Iben and sophomore Dick Adams to studies. This considerably weakens what was formerly a powerful alignment in the lower weight classes.
Muggia Opens
Al Muggia, a junior who was unable to come out for the varsity last year, will open at 123 pounds. He did some work with the freshmen two years ago, however. Sophomore Don Fern, who showed well in the practice match, will be in the 130 slot. At 137, Pete Hiam, last year's freshman captain, will open.
Bud Adams, the only senior in the line-up, will be at 147, one position above his usual wrestling weight. Last year he worked in every meet save one at 137 pounds. Sophomore Len Miller will start at 157, while Chick Chandler, a junior will be at 167.
