8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
All existing college records for pledges fell in the recent P.B.H. blood drive, Co-Chairmen Gordon L. Brumm '53 and Laurence I. Alport '54 announced yesterday.
Final totals from the University and Radcliffe shoed 3,510 pledges, an increase of 300 over last year's record-breaking total. Of last year's total, however, only 2,110 eventually gave blood.
Seventy percent of these College students eligible to give blood have pledge donations, according to the Blood Committee's figures.
The actual blood-letting will take place December 8-12 and 15 and 16, two more days than in last year's drive. Extra beds will be available this year, according to Red Cross officials.
Pledges were obtained during the week of October 26th, with each House holding separate drives. Lowell House had the highest total of pledges with 280, while Winthrop House, with 270, had the highest House percentage.
The Graduate Schools have promised approximately 400 pints, with the College down for over 2,000. The Radcliffe drive netted 380 pints under the direction of Lois L. Ebeling '54.
Donations from outside sources such as the booth in the Square account for the balance.
When blood-letting begins, a group of Cliffe girls will phone all these who pledged blood.
