The varsity soccer team yesterday elected Robert H. Dean (above) of Newton and Leverett House as Captain for 1953. Dean was the starting halfback for the Booters in the Yale game last Friday.
Dean, a junior, alternated at halfback most of the year, until late in the season he cinched the position. Last year coach Bruce Munro used him as a substitute halfback, and freshman year Dean was a member of Poly Guyda's first team.
Besides soccer, Dean also plays lacrosse and House hockey. he was a member of the Exeter soccer team before he came to Harvard.
The Crimson Soccer team pulled a surprise upset over an undefeated Yale squad on Friday, thereby winning its third straight game, and its fourth in the last five outings. These late season victories brought the booters' year's record up to five wins, five losses and two ties.
The victory over Yale in the tilt last Friday knocked the otherwise undefeated Yale team out of the running for the Ivy League championship.
