Five Takes Scrimmage Over M.I.T., 60-46; Sacks Nets 22

Coach Norm Shepard put the varsity basketball team through a game-type scrimmage against M.I.T. last night in the I.A.B. and came up with some very surprising results. The Crimson won, 60 to 46, as expected, but it took sophomore Harry Sacks' 22 points and good teamwork by several of his classmates to beat the perennially outclassed Engineers.

Five lettermen started the first quarter for Shepard, and for a while the Crimson looked distressingly like last year's team, which shot awkwardly and rebounded poorly. At the end of the period, the varsity was behind, 13 to 10. The second M.I.T. team then came in to face an all-sophomore quintet for the Crimson, which quickly pulled in front to stay for the rest of the scrimmage.

Manning Has 11 Rebounds

Paced by Sacks' shooting, mostly under the basket, and Dick Manning's rebounds the sophomores moved into a 24 to 20 halftime margin. Roger Bulger and Paul Shaw contributed long set shots and handled the ball well. Bill Dennis, who had an off night on his shooting, came in to play with this team in the third quarter and the resulting combination looked very effective both on offense and defense.
