Joe Fortunato of Montclair, N. J., a light--165-pound--but effective linebacker, tonight was elected Yale's 1953 football captain. He succeeds Joe Mitinger of Grensburg, Pa.

It was the second honor to come to Fortunato today. Earlier, he and Ed Woodsum, ace end, were awarded the New Haven Gridiron Club prize as the best Yale football players who performed in the Yale Bowl during the 1952 campaign.
