Yale Drops Navy In '53 Grid Card

Yale's 1953 football team will play nine games, including an October 24th meeting with Colgate. Navy will not be on the schedule for the first time in three years.

The Yale Athletic Association lists eight opponents, with a ninth Saturday still to be filled. In addition to Navy, Lafayette has been dropped from next year's schedule. Yale soundly trounced Lafayette this year, but lost to Navy.

The Eli eleven will play six teams it has met since 1949. It will open its season September 26 against Connecticut, and follow with Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Colgate, Dartmouth, an unnamed opponent, Princeton, and Harvard on November 21. The Y.A.A. indicated that it was uncertain as yet who would fill the open date, although negotiations are now being carried on with at least two teams.

In the event Yale does fill the open date of November 7, it will be the first time in four years the Elis have not had a Saturday off before meeting Princeton.
