The French--Consulate yesterday conferred the Medal of Chevalier of the Legion of Honor to Howard H. Aiken '35, associate professor of Applied Mathematics, and the inventor of a new electronic calculating machine. The medal was one of a number awarded by the Consulate to outstanding New Englanders at Armistice Day ceremonies.
