"Coroiolanus," one of Shakespeare's rarely produced tragedies, will be the Harvard Theater Group's Fall production, it was announced yesterday.
The Theater Group will be breaking a three year precedent with the Shakespeare production. Previously it had devoted itself almost exclusively to modern drama, presenting plays by Williams, Kingsley, Giradoux, and Shaw.
"Coriolanus" was one of Shakespeare's early plays. The production is tentatively scheduled to open in December with a full week of performances a possibility for this year.
Casting has been taking place for the past two days and will continue through the end of the week.
