Defensive guard George Yazejian definitely will not play Saturday against Washington University of St. Louis, Coach Lloyd Jordan revealed last night.
Yazejian was hurt in the Columbia game, but Jordan would not disclose the nature of his injury. Other players hurt last Saturday--Buddy Lemay and Harvey Popell--will probably play, Jordan said.
Bob Stargel, kept out of the Columbia game by an ear infection, was working out in pads yesterday and is also expected to play.
Jordan devoted yesterday's practice to working his first offensive and defensive units against the junior varsity. Sophomores Herb Collins, a wingback, and Paul Murphy, a tailback, ran frequently with the first two offensive backfields.
The defensive unit scrimmaged at length against the T-formation plays used by Washington U. The jayvees were directed by assistant junior varsity coach Henry Lamar, who has scouted Washington in both its games.
Washington beat Wayne University of Detroit last Saturday, 13 to 12, for its second victory in two starts.
