Civil Liberties Drive Doubles Contributions

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Daily contributions to the 1952 Civil Liberties Appeal have doubled since Monday's nationwide television speech by Senator Joseph R. McCarthy (Rep., Wisc.).

Appeal directors said last night that $1,200 collected yesterday has swelled the total to over $12,000. Many of the contributors enclosed notes saying "McCarthy's television performance had convinced them to help the drive to beat him.

The money is being sent to the three beneficiaries as soon as it comes in.
