PBH Blood Goal 2,600 Pints As Annual Fall Drive Starts

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

One hundred and fifteen solicitors begin the canvassing of every student in the College today, as the Phillips Brooks House fall blood drive gets underway. The goal is 2,600 pints, 500 more than last year's record total and more than has ever been collected in any similar blood drive anywhere.

Solicitors will also contact all residents of the University graduate schools in Cambridge, the Episcopal Theological Seminary, Lesley, Longy School of Music, and Sargent before the drive officially closes on Friday. Three thousand University employees have already received appeals from P.B.H. by letter, and all non-residents of the above schools will receive letters before the week's end.

'Cliffe Girls to Operate Booth

For the first time, P.B.H. will operate a booth in the Square, where anyone may sign up to give blood. Radcliffe girls will run the booth from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Wednesday.

The bloodmobile will be at Memorial Hall for seven days, December 8 to 12, 15, and 16. This is an increase of two days over last year to take care of the additional 500 donors expected. Appointments are being made for hours between 11:45 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on those days.

Leaders of the drive are co-Chairmen Laurence I. Alpert '54 and Gordon L. Brumm '53; Secretary Richard I. Breuer '54; Publicity Directors Frederick L. Bernstein '55 and Daniel Fitzpatrick '56; Radcliffe Chairman Lois L. Ebeling '53.

Last week three runners-up for the Miss Radcliffe title signed up 150 freshmen in the Union.
