Coach Bill McCurdy sends his unbeaten varsity and once defeated freshman cross country squads against their toughest competition so far this year when they meet Dartmouth at 3:45 p.m. today at Franklin Field.
The Indian's varsity has beaten Holy Cross and Boston University, but lost to Army, the East's perennial top team.
This is the first Harvard opponent with a strong middle block of runners, which is the Crimson's strength also. So far the Crimson has beaten Northeastern, B.U., and the University of Massachusetts by scoring heavily in the middle bracket.
The Crimson will be in top shape, with the exception of Bruce Phillips, who may be slightly off the pace because of a cold. Bill Engs has shown well in practice this week, and McCurdy hopes he will be up with juniors Hal Gerry, Hubie Maguire, Phillips, and Captain Emil San Soucie.
The Yardlings will be stronger than they were last week when they lost to Massachusetts, since Don French returns to the lineup today. The Indian freshmen have beaten B.U.
