Ederer Still Out; End Rate Drills in Varsity Practice

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Except for the warm weather, the most interesting thing about yesterday's varsity football practice was the appearance in football pads of end Hank Rate and wingback John Ederer.

This was the first time Rate had worked out in full regalia since the Springfield game almost a month ago. The husky senior twisted an ankle against the Maroon, and has been sidelined ever since.

Ederer was, in the jargon of the training room, "bumped" by Colgate, and has seen no action this week. He did not scrimmage yesterday. Brian Reynolds again took his place in the starting backfield.

The varsity once more went through a split drill, with the offense and defense running against freshmen and jayvees respectively. Captain John Nichols worked out at offensive inside tackle, with sophomore Tim Anderson--an erstwhile guard--replacing him on the defensive line.

Jeff Coolidge, a defensive guard last season, but an offensive center in 1952, again drilled at guard in the defensive alignment.
