Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
Harvard looks better than over to Sir Charles Webster, former professor of diplomatic history here and now at the London School of Economics, who spent the weekend in Cambridge and attended the Colgate game with President Conant. Sir Charles is in this country for a term's research at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, N.J.
"This system of joint education with Radcliffe is a fine idea," said Sir Charles, who left here in 1932. "I imagine the boys find it most stimulating and the professors most relaxing. In the old days, you know, we repeated our lectures at Radcliffe--a really absurd business."
Sir Charles also commented on the value of rowing as a common interest among students, the Square traffic--"It formerly was terrifying and now it is worse"--and the glories of living in the Atomic Age--"so exciting, so uncomplacent, not without its dangers, of course, but such an excellent time to be young."
